Peyton and Jordan completed and successfully "passed" the ISR (Infant Swim and Rescue) swim program this week! We have been doing 4, 10 minute lessons each week for the last 6 weeks. Both of them have been floating on their own since week 2 which is pretty amazing. With all of the water we are around in the summer from the pool, lake and even the neighborhood park, we were constantly worried about the girls swimming. So, now we feel a little more at ease around the water (we hope) and the girls both feel more confident. We will of course continue to watch them like hawks, but this does make it a little less stressful.
So - here you go.... Peyton's videos of her last "test" at 22 months old. They each had to pass in summer clothes and shoes and then the next day in winter clothes, shoes, and even their coat. The majority of drownings are with kids fully clothed so this is why the last test is with clothes on. The kids thought it was pretty funny to swim in clothes and both had a lot of fun doing these two lessons.
Here is Jordan swimming across the pool. The first time she went across too fast and with only one breath. The whole point of these lessons is to learn to "swim -float-swim" so Miss Lisa made her do it again. This time she had to take a "breath" (i.e. float on back and rest) every couple of seconds. She is definitely going to be a mermaid this summer with these swimming skills!
