Here She Comes!

Our baby girl is on the way, Brooke went into labor around 2:00 pm Tuesday afternoon and in typical Brooke fashion was working on staining the front door of our house. When her contractions were 7 minutes apart (Early Labor for the experienced parents) she was making posters at her parents for her Grandfather's funeral who sadly passed away Tuesday at noon after a long fight with Alzheimers and pneumonia.  It is ironic how when one life ended another one was about to begin.

Jason finally convinced her to go home around 9:00 and after a quick stop at Chipotle (dinner of champions) she was ready to go.  Brooke labored into the night with Maggie at her side providing moral support and begging for the occasional belly rub (the dog not Brooke).  We finally "met the requirements" to go to the hospital at 3:45 am.  When we got to the hospital she was already 6 cm dilated and 90% effaced (10 and 100% means baby time).  While she was waiting for her drugs she went ahead dilated 2 more cm.  Do you believe she was still smiling at 8 cm without drugs?  She is one tough cookie, that Brookie.

She got her drugs and a few hours later after making sure the baby was in the right position (she was sunnyside up - face up at the beginning) it was pushing time.  Brooke is super efficient in everything she does and as it turns out pushing a baby out is no different.  She only pushed for 30 minutes and at one point the doctor had to tell her to not push so hard because we were going to need Ocho Cinco to catch it across the room.
